‘Plain White Rice’ uses the traditional Two-Step Method of preparing rice - Boil and steam

 2 tsp salt
 1 cup oil
 8 cups boiling water
 2 cups Basmati Sella Rice
 1 cup cold water
 1 tsp shah jeera (caraway seeds)
 1 star anise
 1 cup ghee or butter
 1 tbsp crispy-fried, browned onions for garnish
TIP
 Ghee or butter may be substituted with coconut oil as a healthy alternative.

Add oil and salt to rapidly boiling water.

Add the rice and stir well. Boil unclosed for 10-15 minutes until rice becomes tender.

Drain rice in a colander, rinse under cold water and drain well.

Return the rice to the pot, add 1 cup cold water and steam on low heat for 12-15 minutes.

When rice starts to steam add shah jeera, star anise and butter. Mix the rice lightly and close the pot immediately.

Steam until done.

Remove from heat and garnish.
